What you're playing for!

With New York Free Poker, there are only two steps to winning the “BIG PRIZE” awarded at our monthly tournaments. At the monthly events, you will be playing for a seat at the WPT Amateur Championship held every April. Win a seat at this prestigious event and you will have the opportunity to win thousands in prizes. Prizes include WPT 10K Main Event seats where you can become a "WPT Poker-made Millionaire," WPT Celebrity Invitational seats, WPT Boot Camps and more!

The first of the two steps is winning a nightly main event. These are held every night all over the city. Win at any location and automatically qualify for the monthly tournaments. Even if you do not win a game, you still have a chance to qualify for the monthly tournaments. Play nightly and gain points every time you play. The points you collect from each nightly event will be added to the leader board. The top third of the players on the leader board will be invited to play at our monthly tournaments. The top 30 players on the leader board will receive extra chips at the monthly tournaments.

The second and final step is playing in the monthly tournaments!  Here is where you’ll have an opportunity to win big! Win here and you’re off to Vegas! Along with winning the title of New York Free Poker monthly Champion, players win a seat to the WPT Amateur Championship!  It is that simple. You can win a seat with only one win.

 Nightly Events

At every nightly event we will be awarding player points. Points for placing in our nightly tournaments will for the most part remain the same. Points may vary for a grand opening or special event. You need to collect as many points as possible to be eligible to gain entry into our monthly tournaments.

Total points for nightly events will be awarded as follows:

Top Five total points!

1st 400
2nd 350
3rd 300
4th 250
5th 200

Players in 6th thru 10th place receive an additional 100 points. All players get 50 points just for signing in.

So if you finish 6th what do you get at the end of the night?

When you are knocked off the final table, you must sign out in order to receive any points in addition to your sign-in points. Now say you got 6th, first off you have your 50 sign-in points then you get your final table points (100) and that adds up to a total of 150 points at the end of the night. Not bad when you’re trying to compete for those top slots on the leader board.

Consolation Games

When players get knocked out of the main nightly tournament, they will have a second chance to earn points. They can play in a sit and go tournament which will award 100 points for first place and 50 points to second place.

Top 50 Tournaments

We have two opportunities throughout the year for the top 50 point leaders to play for a WPTAC seat.  The first game will be for the top 50 in points for the first half of the year. The second will be for the points during  the entire year. These tournaments, like the monthly tournaments, will award extra chips to the top 30 players. Winners of this event will win the coveted title of Top 50 Champion and will be off to Vegas to play for esteemed title of WPT Amateur Champion.

Second Chance Tournaments

Lastly, we realize it can be extremely frustrating to play in the monthly tournament and come just short of the big prize. For this reason we will give all the players that make a final table in a monthly tournament, a second chance to win a seat. All the players that have made a final table in a 3 month period and have not won a seat to the WPTAC will play a tournament for a seat in the WPTAC.
